Rightemp: Advocating for Women’s Wrestling in Schools and Colleges in Southern California

Welcome to Rightemp Home Services’ dedicated space for celebrating and supporting Girls’ and Women’s Wrestling. As a committed advocate for athletic empowerment, we’ve taken significant steps to nurture the sport at both high school and university levels in Southern California. Our passion for the sport has led us to support several local Southern California Girls High School wrestling teams and the distinguished McKendree University Women’s Wrestling program. Our aim is not just to sponsor, but to actively contribute to the growth and development of girl’s and women’s wrestling, fostering a community where young athletes can thrive both on and off the mat.

Starting Young: Schools Taking the Lead

The journey begins in school. We are partnering with local schools to introduce wrestling programs for girls. It’s about giving them a safe space to learn, grow, and challenge themselves. Picture the pride in a child’s eyes when she masters a new move or wins her first match – it’s priceless!

College Dreams: Wrestling and Education Go Hand in Hand

As our girls grow, so do their dreams. In colleges across Southern California, we’re advocating for women’s wrestling teams. It’s not just about sports; it’s about scholarships, education, and opening doors to new opportunities. We envision a world where our young women wrestlers can pursue their passion while earning a degree.

Community Spirit: Bringing Wrestling Home

What makes Southern California special? It’s our community spirit! Rightemp Home Services is all about bringing people together, and what better way than through sports? We sponsor local wrestling events and tournaments where families can come together, cheer on our girls, and celebrate their achievements.

Strong Girls, Strong Families

At Rightemp, we believe in the power of sports to bring families together. Wrestling teaches values like discipline, perseverance, and teamwork – values that resonate with every family. It’s about more than just winning; it’s about learning life lessons together.

The Growth of Women’s Wrestling

Since 1994, the journey of women in wrestling has been nothing short of phenomenal. According to OPC weight assessment data (Spring 2023), the number of women who wrestle in high school has skyrocketed from 804 to more than 50,000. This growth is a testament to the resilience and determination of female athletes. Rightemp Home Services applauds every woman who has stepped onto the mat, challenging stereotypes and breaking barriers.

Institutional Support Boosts Women’s Wrestling

In recent years, various sports institutions have recognized and supported women’s wrestling. In 2022, the NAIA adopted women’s wrestling as its 28th championship sport, a significant milestone. The NJCAA followed suit in 2020, recognizing women’s wrestling as an emerging sport. Such institutional support paves the way for more opportunities and greater visibility.

The NWCA has been particularly instrumental. In 2020, it hosted the NWCA Multi-Divisional National Duals with separate NAIA & NCAA Women’s Divisions for the first time. In 2019, the Women’s Collegiate Wrestling Coalition heralded a significant development by unveiling the Cliff Keen National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships, specifically designed for NCAA teams. These initiatives reflect a growing acknowledgment of women’s wrestling at the collegiate level.

Moreover, the Committee on Women’s Athletics recommended emerging sports status for women’s wrestling to the NCAA in 2019, another stride towards equality in sports. Rightemp Home Services stands with these organizations in their mission to elevate women’s wrestling.

Expanding Opportunities Across the States

Currently, 150+ colleges sponsor a varsity wrestling program, and 44 states sanction an official scholastic state championship for girls. These numbers are a clear indication of the sport’s expanding footprint. Rightemp Home Services is proud to be part of a society that increasingly recognizes and supports women’s sports.

Wrestling in the Global Arena

Women’s wrestling has also made its mark on the international stage. Since 2004, it has been a recognized Olympic sport, bringing women wrestlers into the global limelight. This inclusion is a significant step toward gender equality in sports and inspires young girls worldwide to pursue their dreams in wrestling.

Surpassing Other Sports in Participation

In a striking development, women’s high school wrestling participation numbers have surpassed those of NCAA-sponsored sports like crew, fencing, skiing, and rifle, and even NCAA-emerging sports like rugby, sand volleyball, and equestrian. This surge in participation is a robust indicator of the sport’s growing appeal and acceptance.

Empowering Female Coaches

The NWCA, recognizing the importance of leadership in sports, has invited 100 coaches since 2015 to participate in the NWCA CEO Academy for Women’s Coaches. This initiative not only supports athletes but also empowers women to become leaders and role models in the sport.

The progress of women’s wrestling is a story of breaking barriers and challenging norms. Rightemp Home Services is honored to be part of this journey, championing the spirit and achievements of women wrestlers. Together, we look forward to a future where women in wrestling are not just participants but champions in every sense.
